Meet the Team

Drew
"The Geekster"
Lyon

Hey, I'm Drew. I'm 18 & a high school senior. I joined RLC because I
want to make a difference in the lives of those who have been through the same things I have-divorce, anger, and debilitating incurable disorders. (If there's hope for me, there's hope for you.) Speaking of incurable, so is my love of all things Star Wars, it seems. At least it has been so far…much to the dismay of my sisters. Anyway, I also like all things language and most
things military, as well as screenwriting, parody, Nerdcore Hip-Hop, history, British satire, puns, and interesting kinds of meat. (Beef is
still my favorite.) I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and have lived in places
as diverse as Peru, California, and Central
Texas.

Joshua
"THE Tek Man"

Hey, what's up? My name's Joshua! I've been with RLC since summer of 2003 and I am 18 yrs. old as of April, 06. Being a part of Real Life has definantly been benificial to my life. I have had many opportunities that most teens now-a-days don't really get the chance to experience. I've been able to experience everything from traveling the US to meeting
goverment and hollywood celebrities.Durring my time here on Real Life I've spoken to nearly million people acrossthe nation rangingin crowd sizes to as many as 11,500; to as few as 8-10. I am thrilled to have been able to speak life and encouragement into my generation. Away from the road, I am very privaleged to be involved in local activities and still get to hang out with my friends from time to time. I believe that if I want to continue to speak out to my generation and be a voice for my generation then I have to keep my life's priorities striaght and my goals clear. I tend to strive to keep God first in my life, and always be aware of where my choices are leading me.

I'm 13 and have 8 brothers and sisters. I aspire to be a gourmet chef, pastry chef, and…well pretty much I want to be an everything chef. I'm home schooled and have been all my life, along with all 8 of my siblings. I have 11 hats that aren't in storage right now, but its always growing so it won't be that way much longer. I have two dogs both papillons. Papillons are suppose to range from 8 to 10 pounds but Jack is 15 and Jazzy (Jasmine) is 4. So that's kind of odd. Jazzy is my little beebs (although I have no idea where "beebs" came from, that's just what I call her.) I also have four birds, Shiloh, Spot, Lily, and Geoffrey. How lame am I! Just talking about my pets! Anywho, this is my first year with RLC, and I love it. After getting back from Camp with my youth group (yay Elevate!), I made it my goal to tell at least 10 people in my lifetime about the hope there is for them. Not even a month later we heard about RLC, and even
though I didn't know why I had to join I knew I had to. About a month into it I remembered my goal, I couldn't believe I had forgotten it already! I'm
sure I have achieved that goal ten times over by now. So, anywho, that's me!
I LOVE CHOCOLATE!

Andrew
"I have Great Hair"
Strauss

Green, that's a good color, it's a perfectly beautiful mixture of blue and yellow. I like it lots. I should make a book; I should make it twice. So, yeah, I'm Andrew. I have long hair, I've been growing it out for two years and haven't cut it once, not even a trim, though, I have straightened it a couple times. This is my first year on the Real Life Team, I can't tell you;
yet, if I'll do it again next year, but I definitely feel that this group has an
awesome vision. I agree, this world needs a change and it's not going to start with the adults. Who you are as a teen shapes who you will become once you're an adult. We need to teach students the consequences of their actions so that they might change their future and in turn, change this world, for the better. You know, porcupines are quite ecstatic especially
when the animosity of a walrus is involved. So, now I've explained my
reason for being on the team let me tell a bit more about myself. I am Me, I have shoes, but prefer flip-flops because they're closer to barefoot. I'm 17 years old at the moment, but, who knows how old I'll be when you
meet me. I consider myself a musician, because I know Piano and can play a little bit of guitar and like to attempt to write songs. I've also been told I can sing, which I happen to agree with, but who cares about my opinion on that subject. I also love to write, and coincidently have been told that I'm good at that too, not poetry though, I try to write that but fail.
Watermelons can't fly, though. So, in conclusion, cheesecake tastes really good.

Lizi
"That is My Nickname"
Strauss

I am a girl….with red hair…that is curly...who lives in Austin, TX. I will be 19 years old in less than 2 months. I live at home with my two amazing parents and 7 of my 8 siblings, I've been home schooled since…well, forever! I have never stepped foot into a public, or private, school as a student of that school. I was born in Ohio, moved to Tulsa, OK when I was almost 3….lived there 'til almost 2 years ago when my family (minus one) picked up and moved down to good ole Austin, TX. It was the hardest and biggest transition I ever made, and I couldn't be happier now! I love singing, acting and dancing. When I'm home and not on the road, I love to just chill, do fun random stuff (like wander around downtown Austin) with my friends and just relax. This would be my first year on the RLC team. I'm totally loving it, I can't say, at least not yet, whether or not I will be on the team again next year, but I know this is where I am for this next year. I am on the team because not only is it where I am supposed to be, but also because I love the vision, I love the idea of using youth to change youth to change our world! After a summer of camps and one amazing conference and hearing about how many young people are lost and don't know the truth, I felt a strong urge to somehow change
those statistics, change
the youth of this nation.

Who we are...
The Real life Team is comprised of high school age young people who have encountered difficult situations in their lives and have come out of those situations stronger and more resilient without resorting to the vices that so easily entangle our youth today.

What we do...
Starting with grade school aged children through high school our presentations are tailored to the student's comprehension level.  With the use of engaging music, gripping drama and peer level testimonials the Real Life Team captures the attention of the audience while delivering an important message. The results are nothing less than life changing!

Why we do it...
Today more than ever young people need to hear a positive message about their future.  They need to realize their dreams and understand that making good choices is important to making those dreams come true.  They need to know that the power to change their world is inside them.  The Real Life Team will deliver this message with hope and encouragement to every student.
